What is a Mentee

Mentees (students and young professionals) are younger persons at the beginning of their careers, who actively seek the intellectual support, empathy, and guidance of a more experienced and knowledgeable professional (Mentor) in order to accelerate their personal growth and professional development.

If you are an accomplished student or young professional under 35 with a professional focus on Global Health and Human Development and a relevant academic/work background (e.g. medicine, public health, economics, sociology, political science, international affairs, among others), and a genuine desire to advance in your professional career, you are strongly encouraged to apply.

We are well aware that you already have a solid knowledge basis and most likely, a short but valuable work experience; what you need now is to learn the “know how” of our profession to be successful and advance rapidly in your career.

An hour with a good mentor may be the equivalent of weeks or months of self-acquired experience.

And we will help you find your Mentor!

How to become a Mentee

Our Mentees are identified through the LinkedIn professional network and receive a personal invitation by the Program Coordinator; others are referred by former mentees or through word of mouth within top-level universities and institutes.

About 25% of our candidates find MultiPOD through an Internet search.

Applicants are admitted after a thorough evaluation of their accomplishments and an assessment of their written responses to a comprehensive application form.

“Second-tier” candidates are placed on a waiting list and sometimes admitted after a follow-up Skype interview by former Mentees or current Mentors. Classes have usually between 50 and 60 mentees (most of them women) representing more than 40 countries and more than 30 disciplines, who are multilingual speakers of more than 50 languages.

Applications are now open

The mentoring program runs from the first week of March to the last week of November, 2025.

In special circumstances and depending on the availability of mentors, applicants may be admitted at any time during the mentoring cycle.

Our Mentees

Our mentees are the best students and young professionals that we can find in any country in the world.

We expect our mentees to be above average academically or professionally, proud of their accomplishments, and ready and eager to take on new challenges.
